The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory for North and South Kohala until 6 p.m.Monday.

A strong high pressure area far north of the state is causing strong to gusty trade winds, expected to gradually weaken tonight and Tuesday. These northeast winds are 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 45 mph in the affected areas, forecasters in Honolulu said.

Winds this strong can bring down tree branches and mark driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.
